Abhi is literally my oldest friend, as he has been bearing this title since we didn’t even understood what a friend is? We met cause our parents were friends. But we became jigri in our teens. After 25 years of being friends am pretty sure we are 2 am friends. Now this fellow has been literally with me in my lowest times, has seen my rudest attitude and tolerated my worst temper. In fact he is only person in this world who has seen every shade of me yet we are friends. I have talked to him more than any person on this planet. He is like those friends which are shown in movies and every one wishes that they had such friends. Guess what! My wish came true J

Abhi is Murti lahan kirti mahan personified. He is like a mini atom bomb! Anyone who knows him and Kapil Sharma can never fail to identify reminiscence. They have same naughtiness, sincere heart, love for oneself and close ones and entertaining attitude.  Abhi is big fan of movies, music and passionate about electronics. He is righteous person to guide anyone about which electronic product would satisfy an individual’s need, style and budget. It is not just electronics, but he is bloody expert on social, financial and philosophical matters.

Both of us have shared many episodes but then there are always few which stand out. It was my 17^th birthday and all my friends were invited except him because back then boys attending a girl’s party wasn’t really traditional! And he was only boy who was my friend in those days so I dint find idea much amusing. But he was my friend and he showed up at party and that too with most memorable gift of life! He gifted me Akshay Kumar’s posters in which he had modelled for Levis . Those posters were rage, they were impossible to find in town like Chandrapur, yet he managed them and made my day! J

P S : In my teens I was dead sure that I’ll marry Akshay Kumar!!!

People in My Life!!! Raj Mehar

 Raj Sir is my classmate  M A Mass Communiction though he is senior enough to be our HOD’s teacher! Having a senior classmate has its pros and cons. First semester was all tu- tu- main- main between Raj sir and classmates. In fact he didn’t even joined us in trip to Navegaon-Nagzira. But today scene has changed drastically and he even joined us in Delhi trip . Over last two years, his layers have been peeled down and even we have changed our behaviour. He comes across as strong headed person (which is true) but then his mellow side is revealed when he fondly talks about his family.

To be honest, he is most misunderstood character in our dept. Only way to understand him is by having tonnes of patience. Patience is the virtue which works as map in discovering real Raj Mehar. Having Raj sir as classmate has many benefits. Our teachers are veterans of their field and have certain point of view, which they express while teaching. Being students either we agree, disagree or have different opinion. But Raj Sir have a opinion or an angle about the issue/topic which is raw/ more practical/ sometimes even reveal most neglected aspect etc. With him being classmate, it is always like having two teachers in one class. Another perk of Raj sir being classmate is, you never have to pay for chai and nashta J.

He is well read, cultured and most importantly principle oriented person.  He is not only a friend, but guide and easily accessible pile of knowledge. Thanks to his time and energy invested in us that today  some of us have transformed from scribblers into writers.

People in My Life!!! Shweta Thapliyal

I knew, that a girl named Shweta Thapliyal was in my batch and I was always intrigued by her surname. We knew each other formally. In 7^th class, she joined tution class where I too was a student  since long time. My first thought was, she is so fair and soo cute! She was quite tall, had long hair and distinct features and certain glamour to her dressing. Later I discovered that her unique look was due to gadhwali genes since she was originally from Uattarakhand. Since gadhwalis are not common in Maharashtra, curiosity in me had reached new heights. Luckily I got chance to vast her home. It sounds strange but her home gave me thrill of being in mountain home. Even she said am being unreasonable and couldn’t agree more..

While touring her home we visited the store room ( where her mom allowed Shweta and her younger brother to keep their stuff) Now this store room was awesome, in fact it was the reason that caused major breakthrough in getting to know each other. She showed me her drawings, games, toys and some accessories and make-up which she had brought from USA. I still remember, it was first time I had landed my eyes on original REVLON nail enamel. Even she could see how happy I was to hold it. Thing is back in 2002-03 brands like Revlon, Maybelline, L’Oreal etc. could only be seen in advertisements or with someone who had foreign connections. That very moment both of us discovered that we had common interest in brands, Hollywood, Halle Berry, Art, Music, Designer labels, Maths, Science and Hindi! After that day forth, it’s been thirteen years and we have become like Yin and Yang!

Shweta is unique combination of IT brain and make up artist who can easily give complex to a Milan Guy. She has extensive knowledge of technology, fashion and films! She is someone who’ll excel in every field she choose to rock!!

People in My Life!!!

Charles...Charles oh dear Charles!!! Charles is heartthrob of our Dept. He is perfect human form of phrase ‘Tall, dark and handsome’ He has exceptionally sharp features and flawless dressing sense. His dressing style is perfect poise of formals and charm. On top of it he carries best accessory which  goes by name of Smile J Charles is not all about ridiculously handsome looks, he is more about extreme politeness. In fact he is so polite that even word extreme isn’t extreme enough to describe its extremity.

When Charles used to work for Nagpur Today, he had to work for long hours. He used to leave home by 1 pm and used to reach home by 1 am. He used to carry his dabba . Now Charles ka dabba is amongst the most tastiest dabbas I  have ever eaten. When we used to eat tiffin in college, even Charles use to join us. He would always encourage everyone to eat from his Tiffin. His face never showed grudge or any expression that would refrained us from eating his dabba. Tough that Tiffin was the only meal he used to have in those twelve hours of work. For him his friend’s( many of whom were hostelites) happiness of eating ghar ka khaana was more important than his personal appetite.

Charles is like baby panda, it’s impossible not to love them. In fact a wave of happiness is felt especially in female crowd as soon as Charles arrives in Mass Communication Dept. Though Charles is of gentleman league, he has a peculiar way of complimenting people. He says dhoom lag rae ho aap.... dhoom kr die apne...dhoom ekdm dhoom....Well Charles I have one word for you, dhoom ho aap!!!  

People in My Life!!! Balu Rathod urf Balu

Balu isn’t a guy who crosses your road in everyday routine.You need to be really lucky or at least student in Mass Communication Dept to enjoy privilege of meeting Balu. His appearance is extremely humble just like him. He dresses up in formals, carries a innocent smile, has a tattoo on back side of palm of word AAI written in Devnagri and a certain rusty charisma of Marathi Maaticha Manoos! But don’t you dare be fooled by his simplicity. His connections politically and socially are definitely enviable! He knows people of highest ranks and is friends with people from all walks of life! Yet he hardly gloats, boasts or even mention about it unless work demands.

I got an idea of his influential personality  in field work accidently. In Lok Sabha Elections 2014, a non political organisation from Nagpur was considered to be playing key role. Hence media from all over the world was arriving in Nagpur to cover this story. But getting access to authorities is next to impossible. Being a media student I got a chance to work with AFP journalist, who came to Nagpur to cover story about this organisation. She asked me to arrange for meeting with PR of this organisation and wanted to visit premise. After various calls and incessant enquiry, Balu’s name churned out as the only person who could and would arrange for meeting and premise visit. I immediately called Balu and explained him situation, without wasting any time he offered to help me J AFP journalist got what she was looking for and was impressed by my connections (Balu’s connections to be precise) and even recommended me as mediator to her colleague who worked for Times of London

After this experience I realised that most power packed people come in most simplest disguise. Balu isn’t just about power he also doing his PhD on atrocities of Kumari Mata in Yavtamal District Sometimes we even tease him as Expert on making Kumara Mata!.    

People in My Life!!! Prerna Dhagammwar Pankanti urf Penta/Peru

PEOPLE in My LIFE!!!

Penta is my school friend but we were never really friends in school days!! It was only in end of 10^th class that we got into talking to each other, that too very formally!! Later we took admission in Jr.college and both of us took same vocational subject coincidently. It wasn’t exactly friendship at first sight but being from same school we were in union.   As fate would have it, we even had opted for same tuition classes.   More reason for us to cross each other’s path. Eventually I realised that, I enjoyed her company. It was a shocker! Since Prerna was one of prettiest girls in school i had assumed that she would be mean, tantrum throwing drama queen! She shattered my illusions of pretty girl stereotype. I was so wrong about her!

During those two years(11^th and 12^th ) we used to spend almost 8-9 hours together. Prerna and I are poles apart, yet she never had an attitude about that. She is one of the few people who actually respect difference instead of criticizing them. We were very well aware of each other’s schedule habits and deadliest secrets Every time I used to leave house, I used to receive a call from her. She used to ask me what am wearing cause by now she had learnt that if am wearing salwar suit then, most likely I had forgotten to carry stole. She always looked after me like an elder sister.

She is absolutely graceful and I was more tomboyish than now. She taught me sisterhood. She is my guide to feminism. She is the reason if I walk, talk and have mannerism of a girl. She is loving, caring and an absolute sweetheart!  

 

People in My Life!!! Pappa urf Qureshi :)

Name: Mohammad Imran Qureshi AKA Pappa

It had been only a month since I took admission in Mass Comunication and we (students) were getting to know each other. We organised Teacher’s Day programme and meanwhile got better gist of each other’s work behaviour. One fine day we were sitting in reading room and discussing, when Qureshi said to me.... mujhe laga tu aisi waisi hai, par me galat tha! It was a small but blunt statement which changed my perception about him. It takes guts to accept that you were wrong, and it takes even more courage to accept it in front of someone. But qureshi did it so effortlessly, it made me realize that only a person of purest conscious can do so! That day onwards I started seeing him in a positive light and as they say rest is History! Today I can say without any doubt that he is amongst the finest people you will ever meet in your life.

 We have seen that people adopt children, but in our Mass Communication Dept we adopted a Parent i.e Qureshi, fondly known as Pappa! Qureshi comes across as irritating, ignorant, stubborn, uncultured, Kharra eating fellow who has no interest in education what-so-ever. He answers and back answers to people irrespective of their age , designation or status! Question is, how come such a negative character ended up with such affirmative title?

Now Qureshi has habit of attributing everyone as Beta! He is hardly a year or two, older than us but keeps on referring us as BETA. Every BETA needs  PAPPA and hence we started calling him  PAPPA! Though it started on a funnier not but he has always been true to his title. We always got BAAP ka pyaar!! But we remained unlucky in getting MAA ka Pyaar!! Qureshi always say, Jis din mujhe tumhari MAA miljaegi, us din me Kharra khana chod dunga! Unfortunately that day never arrived.   And yeah writing excruciatingly painful shayari for our mother-to-be is his speciality.

Qureshi urf Pappa is an perfect example of why saying- first impression is last impression should be discarded!
